The College of Wooster cross country team's tradition of near-perfection continued, as both the Fighting Scots' men and women earned U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team honors on Thursday. First-year
Lauren Acker debuted as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete.
Wooster's women's cross country team posted a 3.63 GPA, while the men collectively had a 3.51. Wooster's women earned the coaching association's academic honor for the 21st time in the last 22 seasons. Wooster's men are now a 20-time recipient over the last 21 years. Twenty-nine Scots from the cross country program were recently honored on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll at Wooster for having at least a 3.50 GPA for the fall semester.
Acker was Wooster's top harrier all fall. The first-year was the North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week on Sept. 16 following an 11th-place finish at Otterbein University's Invitational. Acker placed 44th at the NCAA Div. III Great Lakes Regional Championships (23:16.1) and 36th at the NCAC Championships (24:12.1).
Criteria for the team honor includes scoring at a NCAA regional meet and posting a cumulative GPA of at least 3.1 on a 4.0 scale. Individual accolades require a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and a finish within the top-25 percent of a regional championships meet.
