The College of Wooster women's soccer team stayed perfect in the early goings of its North Coast Athletic Conference schedule after defeating Oberlin College, 2-0, on Tuesday.
Â
Both of Wooster's scores came in the first half and both came after long advances from midfield.
Â
Just under the 10th minute, juniorÂ
Madeline Hansen sent a ball downfield to findÂ
Annie Henegar battling with a defender in front of the goal, but Henegar was able to do just enough to nudge it past Oberlin's keeper.Â
Â
Later, Wooster's second goal came in a similar fashion but this time juniorÂ
Josie Bencic was able to find a footing near the top of the box and score in the 45th minute.
Â
In the second half, Wooster managed to limit Oberlin to just two shots to eventually earn another three points in the NCAC standings.
Â
Reigning NCAC Athlete of the WeekÂ
Lucy Carlin produced her third straight solo shutout, making three saves in the process.
Â
Oberlin, coming off a scoreless draw at DePauw, only mustered off four shots, while Wooster's attack created 20 shot opportunities. Wooster also had six corner kicks to Oberlin's two.
Â
Wooster improves to 7-3-2 and 2-0 in the NCAC, while Oberlin falls to 3-5-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the conference.
Â
Wooster will host DePauw University on Saturday in another NCAC matchup.
