The College of Wooster's star-studded relay of first-year
Hayden Price and seniors
Boston Sullivan,
Will Laymon, and
Callum Glover were at it again on Thursday, breaking their second record in as many nights at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, which run through Saturday at Denison University's Trumbull Aquatics Center.
Price, Sullivan, Laymon, and Glover lowered their school record in the 400 medley relay to 3:21.00, which ranked fourth at this year's NCAA Div. III preeminent conference meet. It marked the fourth record for the quartet this year, as they broke the 200 medley and 400 medley relay records at the midseason Wooster Invitational and already bettered their 200 medley relay record to 1:31.55 on the opening night of the NCAC meet.
Glover posted Wooster's highest individual Thursday finish, taking 11th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.06. Sullivan qualified for the consolation final of the 200 individual medley, and posted a time of 1:54.39, which ranked 14th.
Elsewhere, senior
Will Laubacher turned in the program's fifth-fastest 500 freestyle time at 4:40.90. Laubacher, who logged the fastest 500 freestyle time on the program's top-10 list since 2021, was 16th at this year's conference meet.
Thursday's session was capped by a sixth-place finish in the women's 400 medley relay. Senior
Emma Humbert, sophomore
Maggie Layne, sophomore
Elizabeth Theobald, and senior
Keara Wiley went 4:03.29.
Junior
Rachel Frank debuted on Wooster's top-10 list with a 5:10.35 in the 500 freestyle, a shade better than the 5:10.79 from alumna
Nell Kacmarek in 2019. Frank's time ranked 14th in the field at this year's NCAC meet. She had plenty of support in the consolation final, as first-years
Elena Sandifer and
Aryanna Harton clocked in at 5:20.97 and 5:26.60 for 17th and 18th, respectively.
Humbert and Wiley rounded out Wooster's women's swimmers in consolation finals. Humbert's 2:16.49 ranked 17th in the 200 individual medley, as did Wiley's 25.06 in the 50 freestyle.
On the men's side, Denison carries a 708.5-597.5 lead over Kenyon College into Friday's action. Wooster sits in seventh place with 249 points, well within striking distance of sixth-place Oberlin College's 260 points.
Wooster's women are in fifth place with 256 points. Fueled by its diving success, Kenyon leads the eight-team women's field with 719 points, 117 more than Denison's 602.
Friday's prelims start at 9:30 a.m. Finals kick off at 6 p.m.
