Kellogg Breaks Records as Scots Roll

Men’s lacrosse opens year topping Hiram, 25-3

HIRAM – Senior Lane Kellogg could not have asked for a better start to the season as The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team routed former conference foe Hiram College on Wednesday, 25-3.

Kellogg put together a 13-point, 10-assist, 3-goal effort, which shattered Wooster's single-game program record for points and assists in a game.

Not since 1985 had a Scot put together a nine-assist game, but 40 years later, collects 10, breaking Jim Applegate's record.

Meanwhile, his 13 points breaks a 12-point record which was achieved in 1971, 1983 and, most recently, 2016 by Josh Herold.

Now with 216 career points and 125 goals, Kellogg moves to fourth in program history in both categories. His 10 assists move him to seventh at 91.

Kellogg opened the scoring and assisted on the next two goals, sending Wooster to a 9-0 lead after one and a 16-1 lead at the half.

While Kellogg was impressive, the whole team put together a solid all-around performance. The Scots assisted on all but one goal. They outshot Hiram 77-11, won the groundball battle 59-13, caused 17 turnovers and won 25-of-32 faceoff opportunities.

While Kellogg's three goals were plenty, it wasn't the game-high. That belonged to John Allen Ginder, who scored four on Wednesday. Jack Holub added three goals as well. Sam GreenJesse Fisher and Owen Thompson all scored twice to collect multi-goal games.

Thompson also collected four assists. Green, Austin Jourde, and Ian Marsland each had two.
Owen Bosland had a game-high 13 groundballs, going 21-of-27 in faceoff opportunities. Domenic Cuda added seven groundballs and four caused turnovers.

Thompson and Sutton Ursillo each added three caused turnovers.

Five different keepers saw action for Wooster. Case Lowery did not need a save to record the win in the start.

It was both team's season opener as Wooster moves to 1-0 and Hiram at 0-1. The Scots host Adrian College on Sunday in the team's home opener at Papp Stadium.
