LOUISVILLE – It was a cold and windy day for The College of Wooster softball team who could not get much going in a pair of losses on Sunday.
Wooster fell to Coe College, 3-1, in the morning and lost to Transylvania University, 7-0, in the finale.
Coe's
Morgan Hewitt pitched a gem, allowing just five hits and one unearned run.
Wooster sophomore
Jillian Meszaros was good on the mound as well, allowing just one earned run in 4.2 innings of work. Sophomore
Kaitlyn Hale, who took the loss, allowed the inherited runner to score on a soft hit ball to third. Coe scored two more runs in the sixth.
Wooster's lone run came in the fourth, which gave them a 1-0 lead.
Julia Jennings singled earlier in the inning and was pinch ran for by
Ella McCabe. With McCabe on second,
Tori Conner got a bat on the ball, and an errant throw from shortstop brought home the run.
Jennings,

Addie Nichols and
Cate Barkdoll each recorded a hit.
Sage Lammlein produced another with a single in a pinch hit opportunity, while
Jasmine Mueller did the same with a walk.
Wooster had another five hits against Transylvania, who ended the weekend a perfect 5-0. One bright spot for the Scots was no errors in the game.
Jennings went 2-for-3 with a double, while
Emma Hetkey, Conner and
Lynnsey Delio each recorded a hit.
Hale took the loss in the start, giving up four runs in four innings. Conner pitched an inning of relief but gave up three runs. Delio pitched a clean seventh.
Transylvania spread pitching around with three players, with
Natalie Contreras getting the win in relief with 2.1 hitless innings.
Wooster (1-5) will look to regroup before their next game on March 16 which starts an 8-game spring break trip in Florida.
