Women's Lacrosse Wins Big In Texas Finale

Scots down Beacons 22-5

The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team continued to roll in its Texas finale, blowing out University of Massachusetts Boston 22-5 on Thursday afternoon on Southwestern University's campus in Georgetown.

Wooster's (8-0) 22 goals were one off a season-high and the Fighting Scots have now hit the 20-goal mark five times in eight games this spring. Wooster entered the day second nationally in scoring offense and is one of 19 remaining undefeated teams in Div. III.

Senior Brynne Snaguski led Wooster's charge with seven goals and eight points. The seven goals marked a career-high and only seven times in program history has a Scot scored more than Snaguski did against the Beacons.

While Snaguski was leading the scoring attack, sophomore Rowan Pilon was the chief facilitator, passing out six assists. The six assists are the most in a game since alumna Britta Treu passed out that many in a 2023 contest.

Wooster scored seven straight to take a 7-1 lead with 4:15 remaining in the first. Snaguski scored three consecutive goals, including two assisted by Pilon, during that stretch. First-year Kylie MacMillan was active early, scoring twice to give Wooster a 3-1 lead.

Wooster scored six times in the second and did not allow a goal for a 15-3 halftime advantage. MacMillan upped the goal count to four with back-to-back tallies, and first-year Edi Fisher scored twice for four of the six scores coming from the newcomers.

The Scots' strong finish led to a 5-0 scoring edge in the fourth. Snaguski's seventh goal of the game was Wooster's 20th for the afternoon. Pilon netted a goal for a seventh point of the day with 7:02 to go.

Wooster allowed just six shots during the two stanzas it kept UMass Boston off the scoring column. The Scots dominated the draw controls, winning nine of 10 during the even periods.

MacMillan followed Snaguski in the scoring column with five goals. Fisher added three, while sophomore Mizan Jacobs and senior Sophia Mellis scored two each.

Senior Lizzie Hardy won eight of Wooster's 20 draw controls. Mellis topped the Scots with three caused turnovers. Junior Audrey Richardson stopped three shots.

Rae Alexander and Cadence Kelly scored two goals each for UMass Boston. The Beacons made just three saves on 25 Wooster shots on goal.

Wooster outshot UMass Boston 35-14. The Scots dominated the draw controls 20-8. The teams split 38 groundballs.

Wooster is now 8-0 on the year and has outscored the opposition 159-42.

The Scots' next game takes place at Otterbein University (6-2) at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 28.
