Â
JuniorÂ
Tori Conner pitched a four-hitter to lead the softball team to a 4-0 win over Kalamazoo College in their first game on Friday.
Â
Conner needed just 93 pitches to get through the Kalamazoo lineup and got better as the game went along, retiring eight in a row to finish the game.
Â
She helped herself immediately at the plate as well, drawing a walk to begin the game and coming around to score from first on a double fromÂ
Cate Barkdoll.
Â
First-yearÂ
Ella McCabe went 3-for-4, joining Barkdoll as the only two Scots to collect a multi-hit game. Barkdoll went 2-for-4.
Â
McCabe put Wooster ahead by two with an RBI single in the third to scoreÂ
Sage Lammlein.
Â
Wooster added two more in the fourth with a shot to the outfield byÂ
Emma Hetkey to score Conner and an RBI single fromÂ
Julia Jennings to score Hetkey.

Wooster 4, Lawrence 1
March 20
Â
Consistency was key for the Scots on Friday after sweeping the day with a 4-1 victory against Lawrence University.
Â
The Scots played their second straight game without committing an error, got on the board early and got a solid pitching performance from sophomoreÂ
Jillian Meszaros.
Â
Meszaros faced the minimum through three innings until a triple to lead off the fourth put the tying run on third with no outs. Yet, the Scots kept the runner stranded before adding their runs of their own in the bottom of the inning.
Â
In the fourth, Wooster collected four hits which included RBI singles from Barkdoll,Â
Ella Wolff and Lammlein.
Â
Meszaros went back to work with a clean inning in the fifth and the sixth before a two-out single in the seventh ruined her shutout. Yet, Meszaros finished it out for her fourth win of the season needing just 72 pitches to get it done.
Â
Six different Scots recorded a hit with Wolff leading the way with a 2-for-3 game.
Â
Wooster 7, MIT 5
March 21
Wooster gave the Massachusetts Institute of Technology its first loss of the spring with a 7-5 result in the first game on Sunday.
Â
Wooster broke up a 1-0 deficit with a four-run third inning with RBI singles from Jennings, Barkdoll and McCabe.
Â
Barkdoll brought home two more runs later in the game, going 4-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored in the game.
Â
MIT made it interesting with two runs in the fifth and two runs in the sixth, pushing the starter Meszaros out of the game.
Â
Conner came in with the bases loaded and one out. After an initial single that made it 6-5, she retired the next two batters and pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to collect her second collegiate save.
Â
Jennings finished 3-for-4 and McCabe 2-for-4. First-yearÂ
Peyton Nicholson went 1-for-2 with her first hit of the season, a double, and drew a walk.
Â
Wooster 10, St. Lawrence 9 (8 inn.)
March 21
Wooster capped its spring trip by scoring a season-high 10 runs and defeating St. Lawrence University, 10-9, in eight innings.
Â
Wooster's offense exploded in the third, scoring seven runs to take a commanding 9-1 lead. Jennings and Wolff doubled in the inning, whileÂ
Shaylynn Rogaski scored two with a single through the right side, which was her first hit as a Fighting Scot.
Â
Hetkey also recorded a two-run single to make it an 8-1 game. Barkdoll tripled in the first to bring home Wooster's first score and brought home another in the third. She finished 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI.
Â
On the trip, Barkdoll batted .577 with four doubles, a triple and brought home 16 RBI. The rest of team combined for 21 RBI.
Â
St. Lawerence slowly inched their way back into the game with three runs in the fourth and the sixth innings before tying the game in the top of the seventh.
Â
Heading to extras, Wooster went to Meszaros in the eighth with a runner placed on second base. After an opening walk, Meszaros got her next batter to line into a double play as Jennings made the catch and then the throw to first. From there, a groundout to Koran at short ended the top half of the inning.
Jennings also picked up career assist 336, becoming the new program leader.
Â
Wooster quickly ended it in the bottom half. Hetkey singled on a bunt to bring Meszaros to third but an offline throw from third sent Meszaros home standing.
Â
Hetkey had her best hitting game of the spring, going 3-for-5 with a run scored as the Scots tallied 12 hits.
Â
With a 7-1 spring break trip and picking up their fifth straight win, Wooster improves to 8-6 on the year. The Scots will look to carry that momentum into North Coast Athletic Conference play next weekend when they travel to Oberlin College.Â
