The College of Wooster men's tennis team held its home opener on Wooster's own outdoor tennis courts Saturday, defeating Wittenberg University, 7-0.

It was Wooster's first North Coast Athletic Conference win of the season, moving to 1-1 in conference play and 8-2 overall. Wittenberg drops to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the NCAC.

Wittenberg brought just four players, having to default wins to Wooster in three flights, giving the Scots the early advantage.

Anthony VanOyen took a 6-2 win in the No. 1 flight, whileÂ

Bennett Dickerson won 6-3 in the No. 2 flight.

Dickerson followed up his victory with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in the No. 4 flight. VanOyen was just as good in the No. 1 flight with a 6-1, 6-0 win.

At the No. 2 and No. 3 flights, Royse and Lopes both left with 6-2, 6-2 wins, respectively.

Wooster returns to action Sunday when they host John Carroll University at 2 p.m.
