LEXINGTON, Ky. – The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team scored a season-high 23 goals as they cruised to their fourth straight victory on Saturday, defeating Transylvania University, 23-5.
It took Wooster a full quarter to get going after being on the wrong end of a 4-3 start. From there, Wooster (4-0) scored nine unanswered and outscored Transylvania 20-1 for the rest of the game.
Senior
Sophia Mellis got the offense going with four second quarter goals and finished with a game and season-high six goals and seven points.
Classmate
Brynne Snaguski added four goals and an assist.
Sophomore Mizan Jacobs had her third consecutive game scoring at least three goals and added two assists for five points.
Hardy fell one goal shy of 100 in her career with two goals on Saturday.
Kylie MacMillan and
Rowan Pilon also added two goals each. MacMillan added an assist and Pilon added two.
Edi Fisher,
Sidney O'Rourke, Cassidy Driscoll and
Priya Nehria all got on the board as well with one goal each. O'Rourke also had one draw control, which put her at 200 for her career.
Nicole McCalla, Hardy, MacMillan and Jacobs all secured a team-high two ground balls. Jacobs led with six draw controls while Hardy added five more to add on to her current career program record. Hardy's three caused turnovers also led the team.
Transylvania (3-4)'s
Sofie Garrett led the team with two goals.
Wooster keeper
Audrey Richardson got the win behind a season-high nine saves. Her counterpart
Ruby Himes made seven.
The Scots outshot Transylvania 32-18 with 27 of those shots on goal. Wooster took 17 draw controls to Transylvania's 13 and made 19 successful clears from 22 attempts.
Wooster stays in Kentucky for a Sunday matchup at Centre College (2-2) with an 11 a.m. start.
