In the first of three consecutive home games to begin the season at Carl Dale Field, The College of Wooster men's soccer team showed an aggressiveness from beginning to end and cruised to a 5-0 victory over Bethany College on Tuesday.
 
The Scots outshot the Bison 37-6, which included an 18-1 first half that resulted in a 4-0 halftime lead. It was quite the difference from last year when the two teams tied 1-1.
 
Wooster's All-Region returnee made his presence known early as junior Connor Shea put the Scots on the board in the 12th minute. Shea received a cross from senior Robert Hillhouse, and, after gaining possession, opened scoring.
 
Later, Shea went off at the 22nd minute due to an injury and did not return. Fortunately, the offense kept rolling without him.
 
Hillhouse also made an impact on the team's second goal, drawing a foul inside the box for a penalty kick. Senior Aris Christodoulou took the shot, chose correctly and put Wooster ahead 2-0.
 
That lead extended itself quickly as first-year Rohan Kickbush found his first collegiate goal in the 27th minute thanks to an excellent cross from Christodoulou. 
 
And before the half could end, a pair of first-years linked up in the 42nd minute with Calen Relle assisting on Owen Eastgate's first collegiate goal.
 
Finally, sophomore JJ Porter capped off the night with a score in the 59th minute. Senior Griffin Thornton was credited with the assist after his shot deflected off the keeper and the bar to find Porter's foot.
 
Eddie Glucksman, Stefanos Sotiriadis and Tyler Buchanan combined for the shutout in net. The senior Buchanan was credited with the team's lone save.
 
Next, Wooster (1-0) welcomes Juniata College on Friday for the second meeting ever between the two programs.
