Wooster Sets Tone Fast In Shutout Win

Scots defeat Pioneers, 2-0

MARIETTA -- The College of Wooster women's soccer team received some much-needed offensive output on Wednesday after defeating Marietta College, 2-0.
 
After failing to score in their last two games, Wooster connected early and held their 2-0 lead from the 18th minute on.
 
In the eighth minute, senior Bella Crompton scored her team-leading third goal of the year, thanks to an assist from junior Annie Henegar.
 
Junior Emma Fischer then scored her first of the year, unassisted in the 18th minute.
 
From there, the Scots held off the Pioneers. They outshot them 14-10 and survived three second half corner kicks.
 
Keeper Lucy Carlin made four saves for the shutout win.
 
Up next, Wooster will host senior day at Carl Dale Field on Saturday and will welcome the University of Mount Union for a 4 p.m. contest.
