Comeback Falls Short For Women’s Soccer

Purple Raiders defeat Wooster, 2-1

The College of Wooster women's soccer team had a comeback fall short in a 2-1 defeat to the University of Mount Union during Saturday's homecoming and senior day festivities.

Mount Union's Rylee Hutton was the big factor in Saturday's match, scoring twice and nearing having the hat trick after her third potential goal was waved off.

Hutton scored in the 15th minute to give Mount Union (2-3) the early lead, scoring after finding the ball off a deflection. She expanded upon that lead with an early goal in the second half for the Purple Raiders to lead 2-0 thanks to an assist from Ella Dinwiddie.

Wooster (3-3-1) ramped up its efforts in the second half and found its first goal in the 54th minute via junior Annie Henegar. Henegar got help with the double assist from Paige Schulz and Mady Cline, as Schulz sent the ball in and Cline directed it to Henegar.

Wooster's efforts led to them outshooting the Purple Raiders 13-5 in the second half 19-10 for the whole 90 minutes.

The senior Lucy Carlin made three saves in goal.

Next, Wooster heads to the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg on Tuesday.
