The College of Wooster women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season in a 2-0 defeat to Fredonia State University at Carl Dale Field on Sunday.
Â
Fredonia (2-1) made the most of its opportunities despite being outshot 24-14 in the game. The teams were closer in shots on goal with Wooster having nine and Fredonia seven.
Â
The Blue Devils scored off a corner kick for the game's first score in the 17th minute.Â
Kacey Mosher directed the kick right into the middle of the box whereÂ
Bronwyn Madden headed the ball in.
Â
Wooster's attack took a blow in the 37th minute whenÂ
Josie Bencic left with an injury. However, that did not stop the Scots from piling on the shots, outshooting Fredonia 15-6 in the second half.
Â
Unfortunately, several of Wooster's shots on goal went right to keeperÂ
Alyssa Hatch who finished with a game-high nine saves.
Â
Fredonia's second goal came well into the second half whenÂ
Abby Herst's cross foundÂ
Haley Drinon for the strike in the 77th minute.
Â
Wooster keeperÂ
Lucy Carlin finished with five saves.
Â
Wooster moves to 1-1 on the year.  Fredonia takes the all-time series lead at 2-0.
Â
Next, the Scots host Geneva College on Tuesday.
