The College of Wooster women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season in a 2-0 defeat to Fredonia State University at Carl Dale Field on Sunday.
 
Fredonia (2-1) made the most of its opportunities despite being outshot 24-14 in the game. The teams were closer in shots on goal with Wooster having nine and Fredonia seven.
 
The Blue Devils scored off a corner kick for the game's first score in the 17th minute. Kacey Mosher directed the kick right into the middle of the box where Bronwyn Madden headed the ball in.
 
Wooster's attack took a blow in the 37th minute when Josie Bencic left with an injury. However, that did not stop the Scots from piling on the shots, outshooting Fredonia 15-6 in the second half.
 
Unfortunately, several of Wooster's shots on goal went right to keeper Alyssa Hatch who finished with a game-high nine saves.
 
Fredonia's second goal came well into the second half when Abby Herst's cross found Haley Drinon for the strike in the 77th minute.
 
Wooster keeper Lucy Carlin finished with five saves.
 
Wooster moves to 1-1 on the year.  Fredonia takes the all-time series lead at 2-0.
 
Next, the Scots host Geneva College on Tuesday.
