The College of Wooster women's golf team concluded its fall season with a seventh-place finish at Wittenberg University's Jeff Roope Invitational on Tuesday. The Fighting Scots, who had four team members shoot or match their collegiate-bests this fall, posted a two-round score of 764 at the challenging par-72, 5,802-yard Springfield Country Club.
Junior
Abby Haywood finished as Wooster's No. 1 for the fourth time this fall. Haywood tied for 13th at 174. Haywood carded a par on 14 holes for the tournament, including all four par-5 holes on Springfield's Country Club's front nine. In all, Haywood was 1-over-par for the tournament on par-5 holes.
Classmate
Morgan Erdmann tied for 18th with a 178. Erdmann's Monday 86 matched Haywood for the team's low round of the day. She had eight pars in the opening round, including three in a four-hole stretch starting with the par-5, 470-yard 17th hole. In round two, Erdmann had another run of three pars in four holes, with that one starting on No. 8.
Sophomore
Sarah Buchholtz (99-107-206, 36th), senior
Alexis Neal (100-118-218, 39th), and junior
Serena Grenga (115-106-221, 40th) rounded out the Scots' lineup. Their highlights were led by Neal's birdie on the par-5, 412-yard second hole on day one and Grenga's birdie on the par-4, 260-yard first hole on Monday.
Host Wittenberg won with a 755. Otterbein University was the runner-up at 671. John Carroll University's
Julia Gulla was the medalist with a two-day 156.
