The College of Wooster women's golf team's season concluded with a seventh-place finish at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship, which wrapped up Sunday at the par-72, 5,644-yard Avalon at Squaw Creek in Vienna, Ohio. Wooster shot a 367 in round three to finish at 1,079.
Junior
Abby Haywood led Wooster again, shooting an 87 to finish 16th at 251. Haywood was off to a strong start, scoring pars on the par-4, 340-yard second hole, the par-3, 163-yard third hole, and the par-5, 444-yard fourth hole. Haywood turned at 5-over-par with two more pars dropping before starting the back nine.
Juniors
Morgan Erdmann and
Paige Nicely shot 91s on Sunday. Erdmann finished 22nd at 264 and Nicely 26th at 270. Erdmann worked out of trouble on the 325-yard fifth hole with a nice green-in-regulation approach from the rough and went on to par the hole for the first of three pars in a four-hole stretch. Nicely connected on a par on the 143-yard sixth hole for the first of three consecutive pars and two of her six pars on the day came on par-3 holes.
Sophomore
Sarah Buchholtz again challenged to card a collegiate-best for a majority of Sunday's round before finishing at 98 with a par on the 132-yard finishing hole at Squaw. Buchholtz was 32nd at 294.
Senior
Alexis Neal had a 107 in her final collegiate round. Neal placed 35th at 318.
Denison University won the NCAC title with a 942. Kenyon College's
Rafaela Plasa was the medalist, winning a two-hole playoff over teammate
Sasha Belova. They both shot a 14-over-par 230 for the 54-hole championship.
