Junior
Abby Haywood's 170 led The College of Wooster women's golf team at the season-opening Lynn Schweizer Invitational, hosted by Denison University at Denison Golf Club over the weekend. The Fighting Scots placed 13th at 750.
Haywood tied for 38th-place. It marked the junior's third time finishing as the Scots' No. 1 scorer, and the second time at a 36-hole event. Haywood's best stretch came on Saturday upon turning to the front nine at Denison Golf Club. Haywood played the first four holes of the front nine at 1-under-par, dropping in a birdie on the par-4, 233-yard fourth hole. The junior went 3-over-par on Saturday's front nine. Haywood opened with an 81 and closed with an 89.
Junior
Morgan Erdmann was next, tying for 48th-place at 174. Erdmann's opening-round 83 was fueled by a strong second half on Denison's front nine. There, she played the first four holes at 1-under-par, with the birdie also coming on No. 4. Erdmann capped the day with her second birdie, with that going down on the par-4, 347-yard ninth hole.
Junior
Lizzy Hohman placed 67th at 200. Her second-round 95 marked a 10-stroke bounce back. Her Sunday back nine was book-ended by pars on the challenging uphill par-5, 455-yard 10th hole and the scenic severely downhill par-4, 322-yard 18th hole.
Sophomore
Sarah Buchholtz was a counting scorer for the first time as a Scot. Buchholtz placed 69th at 206 in what marked the sophomore's second start in Wooster's lineup. Buchholtz's strong finish on Sunday enabled the sophomore to tie a collegiate-best at 100. She pared two of the final three holes on the front nine, and played the front nine's par-3 holes at even-par.
Senior
Alexis Neal debuted in Wooster's lineup at the Lynn Schweizer and placed 70th at 211.
Randolph-Macon College won the tournament at 599. DePauw University standout
Becky Williams was the medalist with a 3-under-par 142.
Next, Wooster is at the University of Mount Union Fall Invitational, which takes place on Sunday, Sept. 7 at Tannenhauf Golf Club.
