Grenga, Hohman Log Collegiate-Bests

Wooster continues fall season at Heidelberg Fall Invitational

Juniors Lizzy Hohman and Serena Grenga logged collegiate-bests for The College of Wooster women's golf team at the Heidelberg University Fall Invitational, which took place Friday and Saturday at the par-72, 5,807-yard Fostoria Country Club. Wooster placed 13th with a two-day score of 733.

Junior Morgan Erdmann was Wooster's low finisher for the tournament, tying for 17th at 161. Erdmann closed with a season-best 78, which ranked two off her collegiate-best. Erdmann played Fostoria's front nine at even-par on Saturday, bookending the stretch with birdies in the shotgun-started round. Erdmann opened the day with a birdie on the par-3, 125-yard ninth hole and closed with her fourth birdie of the tournament on the par-5, 481-yard eighth hole. In round one, Erdmann started on hole five and dropped in back-to-back birdies on Nos. 8 and 9.

Hohman was next, tying for 38th at 170. Her Saturday 84 marked a new collegiate-best by two. Hohman got there in part with a late birdie dropping on the par-4, 322-yard sixth hole, which was her 16th hole of the day. In round one, Hohman matched her collegiate-best with an 86, thanks to playing her final nine holes at 3-over-par. That stretch started with a birdie on the par-4, 315-yard 15th hole and she finished with pars on five of her final six holes in round one.

Senior Alexis Neal placed 78th with a two-day 199. Neal shot a second straight 97 to start Heidelberg's tournament, which matched a collegiate-best. Neal's strong finish secured the now tri-collegiate-best, as the senior drained a par on the par-3, 160-yard fifth hole and had a bogey on the closing 322-yard sixth hole on Friday.

Grenga was 83rd at 203. The junior shattered the collegiate-best on Friday with a 94. Grenga's final four holes were played at 1-over-par, thanks to a birdie on the par-5, 500-yard fourth hole, which was followed by a par on No. 5. For the collegiate-best round, Grenga played five holes at par or better.

Calvin University won the tournament at 629. Heidelberg's Brooke Barnes was the medalist with a 6-over-par 150.

Next, Wooster is at John Carroll University's Fall Invitational, which takes place Oct. 4-5 at Manakiki Golf Course in Willoughby Hills, Ohio.
