Elizabeth Meiners opened with an impressive 6-0, 6-0 win to headline The College of Wooster women's tennis team's results at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Regional Tournament, held this weekend at Washington University in St. Louis.
Meiners downed Westminster College's (Mo.)
Jada Barlow before bowing out in the round of 64 with a hard-fought 6-1, 6-7, 1-0 (9) match against Hope College's
Hadley Krygier.
Meiners and Krygier met up twice over the weekend, being joined by first-year
Sasha Riley and
Amanda Lopykinski, respectively, in doubles. The Hope duo beat the Wooster first-year's 8-0 in the consolation bracket. Meiners and Riley took six games (8-6) off Kenyon College's
Maya Stolarsky and
Marguerite Shope in the opening round of doubles.
Riley dropped a 6-2, 6-0 match to Earlham College's
Vanessa Akuaku on Friday. Riley had a bye until the consolation bracket's round of 32, where she fell 8-4 to Anderson University's
Abigail Cunningham.
