Box Score COLUMBUS – The College of Wooster women's tennis team opened its season on Sunday in a 6-1 loss to Capital University.
First-year
Sasha Riley collected her first collegiate win in the No. 2 singles position and was the only Scot to push their match to three sets, winning 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Elsewhere, classmate
Elizabeth Meiners got her first taste of action in the No. 1 flight, falling 6-3, 6-3. After an injury last season, junior
Lauren Richmond returned to the court but took a 6-1, 6-2 loss at the No. 3 flight.
Sophomores
Elyse Errington and
Jade Adkins both took 6-2, 6-2 losses in the fourth and fifth flights, respectively. Finally, sophomore
Kamila Kadirova fell 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 6 flight.
While Wooster did not take the doubles point, they did sweep the No. 2 flight. Richmond and Errington teamed for the 6-0 win.
Riley and Meiners lost 6-3 in the No. 1 flight, and Kadirova and
Willow Hernishin fell 6-2 at the No. 3 flight.
Wooster will host its Wooster Invitational next weekend.
