Senior Salute - Elliot Miller

Miller is member of men's soccer team

Throughout the spring semester we are highlighting our senior Fighting Scots with a Senior Salute series. Today's featured senior is men's soccer's Elliot Miller. Miller is an environmental geoscience major.

Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster?
A: I chose Wooster for the quality liberal arts education, the competitive athletics, and the welcoming and diverse community.

Q: What does being a Fighting Scot student-athlete mean to you?
A: It means putting in hard work to reach your goals and pushing yourself off and on the field to become the best person I can be.

Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: My favorite memories include the opportunity to study abroad in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, working on Independent Study, beating Denison University sophomore year when I scored the winning goal, and coming back to beat the University of Mount Union on senior year homecoming weekend and scoring the winning goal.

Q: What is the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster?
A: The best part is all the teams, faculty, and students support each other at every event.

Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport?
A: I am in the Geology Club, Bluegrass Jam, and I work in the athletic training room.

Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why?
A: Dr. Meagen Pollock has been an incredible guiding force in my academic and professional career by being a great example and aiding me to be the best student I can be.

Q: What other people or resources impacted your Wooster experience in a positive way and how did these people and resources set you up to be successful at Wooster?
A: Coach Andy Zidron and Coach Jack Giloth provided endless support, as did Dr. Shelley Judge during her time here. Shoutout to Coach Carson Kinney and the sports medicine staff for keeping everyone healthy.

Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project?
A: My I.S. is about using x-ray instruments to analyze the chemical composition of glaciovolcanic products from Iceland's western volcanic zone as an analog study for identifying glaciovolcanism on Mars.

Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: The men's soccer team traveled to Cape Town, South Africa for a preseason trip. We had tons of cool experiences like cage diving with sharks, spending a few days at a safari, and getting to play some teams around Cape Town.

Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what advice would you give your first-year self?
A: I would tell myself to trust your gut and live every day with no regrets.
