Senior Salute - Nathaniel Huxtable

Huxtable is a member of baseball team

Throughout the spring semester we are highlighting our senior Fighting Scots with the Senior Salute series. Today's featured senior is baseball's Nathaniel Huxtable. Huxtable is a political science major.

Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster?
A: I chose to attend Wooster because of its successful and close-knit baseball team, the smaller class sizes, professor accessibility, and the mentorship and pathways provided to future opportunities beyond undergrad.

Q: What does being a Fighting Scot student-athlete mean to you?
A: It means constantly striving for success in every aspect of life. Representing Wooster every day is a privilege. For me, it means continuing a family legacy.

Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: My favorite memories are playing baseball in Italy and travelling with the boys.

Q: What is the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster?
A: The best part is having a direct impact on teammates, classmates, the athletic department, and the campus community as a whole.

Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport?
A: I was a member of the club hockey team as a first-year. It was the most fun I have had in my life.

Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why?
A: Coach Aaron Swick. Nobody has invested more time in developing me as a player and person in my four years at Wooster.

Q: What other people or resources impacted your Wooster experience in a positive way and how did these people and resources set you up to be successful at Wooster?
A: I have had various professors and staff members who have taken time out of their schedule to help me better myself. I have had several individuals impact me greatly in little ways through small conversations and individualized academic assistance.

Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project?
A: My I.S. will help us understand China's international role by examining various foreign investments under the Belt and Road Initiative and how these investments impact their economic security.

Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: I lived in Atlanta working a summer internship and playing baseball in the Sunbelt League in 2025. We won the championship, and I got a job.

Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what advice would you give your first-year self?
A: Failure is okay. Make failure make you stronger. Lastly, make every day a great day.
