NCAC Tournament Page

Tournament Outlook: The College of Wooster women's soccer team (11-3-3, 6-0-1 NCAC) won its first North Coast Athletic Conference title since 2010 to earn the top seed in the upcoming NCAC Tournament. They will host fourth seed John Carroll University (5-8-4, 3-2-2 NCAC) at 2 p.m. Wednesday in one of two semifinal contests. On the other side of the bracket, two seed Denison University (8-2-5, 4-0-3 NCAC) hosts three seed Kenyon College (7-2-7, 3-1-3 NCAC). The winners will square off in the championship on Saturday at the highest remaining seed.

Media coverage: Fans can follow Wooster's tournament run through the available live stream and stats pages.

Season Outlook: Wooster turned it up once conference play hit, going unbeaten in NCAC play at 6-0-1 after a 5-3-2 non-conference record. That unbeaten feat was a first for the conference since 2019 when DePauw University went 6-0-2. Of course, that year, Wooster as the two seed won the tournament. Back to 2026, Wooster finished at 11-3-3, which is the fourth consecutive year the program has reached that number of wins. In fact, Wooster has not lost a game since Sept. 19. Their last win out may have been their most impressive in a 2-1 decision over Kenyon. It marked their highest NPI win of the season, as senior Bella Crompton hit the game-winner in the 87th minute. Currently, Wooster's NPI sits at 76, second amongst conference foes, only behind Denison (47).

Who is John Carroll: John Carroll, last year's NCAC regular season and tournament champion, enters with a 5-8-4 record and a 3-2-2 mark in the NCAC. They earned their way into the tournament after taking care of DePauw in its season finale, 1-0. John Carroll lost to the Scots, 1-0, on Oct. 24 and drew with both Denison and Kenyon. Their offense comes mostly from sophomore Brooke Berkowitz, whose seven goals ranks third in the conference but her 1.88 shots on goal ranks first. She represents 39 percent of the Blue Streaks total goals (18) on the season. Keeper Madison Skeese's 68 saves rank second in the conference. Head coach Michael Marich is in his 15th year at the helm, accumulating a 139-111-40 mark.

History and the last meeting: Wooster secured the NCAC title after their win against the Blue Streaks on Oct. 24. Senior Julia Struck scored the game's lone goal in the ninth minute. The Scots outshot John Carroll 14-12, and keeper Lucy Carlin made four saves. Wooster holds the all-time series at 19-10-4, and John Carroll hasn't won on Wooster's home field since 1998.

Bend It Like Bencic: Junior Josie Bencic has been key to Wooster's offense, leading the team with 10 goals. Once conference play started, she scored in the first five contests, which included her first hat trick against Wittenberg. That, of course, led to her first NCAC Athlete of the Week nod of the season. Bencic also has three assists, tied for the team lead, and 23 points. She tops the conference in goals, points, and game winning goals (4).

All-In On Carlin: In her first full season in goal, senior keeper Carlin has proven to be up to the task, having appeared and started in all 17 games this season. Her record at 11-3-3 has included eight solo shutouts, with one other combined, 75 saves and a goal against average of .83. Amongst the conference, she is first in total saves, saves per game, shutouts, and second in goals against average. She also recorded five straight shutout games, culminating to NCAC Athlete of the Week honors on Oct. 6.

Tournament history: After missing out last year, Wooster returns to the tournament for its 13th appearance. The last and only time they were the No. 1 seed, Allegheny College advanced on penalty kicks, 4-3, in a 2-2 draw in the semifinals. Wooster is 5-7-6 in tournament games with a 3-2-1 mark at home. They seek their third tournament title after winning in back-to-back years in 2018 and 2019. John Carroll, as the No. 1 seed, won the title last year in its inaugural NCAC season. Ohio Wesleyan and Wittenberg share the lead of most titles with six.

Ticket Information:  All ticketing is online through the NCAC's Hometown Ticketing platform. Note the $1 platform fee per ticket. For the semifinals and championship, general admission price is $10.
