Piani is member of men's lacrosse team

Throughout the spring semester we are honoring our senior student-athletes with a Senior Salute series. Today's featured senior is men's lacrosse's Rowan Piani. Piani is a global media and digital studies major.

Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster?
A: I chose to attend Wooster due to its focus on undergraduate research and the accessibility to great professors who provide great mentorship and support.

Q: What does being a Fighting Scot student-athlete mean to you?
A: Being a Fighting Scot student-athlete means being part of a tight-knit family that would do anything for each other. Being a student-athlete here is being part of something bigger than us. We help each other out in the classroom and support each other on the field.

Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: Some of my favorite memories include midnight practices at John P. Papp Stadium and our 6 a.m. lifts. As much as I did not like it at the time, I would do anything to go through it again with my best friends.

Q: What is the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster?
A: The best part of being a student-athlete here is being part of a family away from home. My teammates are like my brothers, and I would do anything for every single one of them.

Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport?
A: Besides lacrosse, I was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Team Impact. I am also a member of the North Coast Athletic conference social media corps.

Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why?
A: Coach Eric Seideman has always been there to help me through tough times. He has helped shape me to be the man I am today.

Q: What other people or resources impacted your Wooster experience in a positive way and how did these people and resources set you up to be successful at Wooster?
A: One member of the staff who truly impacted my experience was Nate Huston. As a junior, I suffered a season-ending head injury and Nate had my back 100 percent of the way through the recovery process. His willingness to be there for me, even with his busy schedule, has inspired me to help and treat others the same way.

Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project?
A: I am investigating how social media affects the mental wellbeing of Div. III college athletes. I hope that my study can help future student-athletes balance their mental health on the field even with outside distractions.

Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: One of the most fun things I did here was our team trip to Colorado. The memories from that trip are unforgettable.

Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what advice would you give your first-year self?
A: Do not regret the past, do not look to the future, and enjoy the ride.
