The second-lowest round of the year was turned in by The College of Wooster women's golf team at Friday's University of Mount Union Spring Invitational, which took place at the par-72, 5,877-yard Tannenhauf Golf Club. The Fighting Scots' 356 was three off the team's low round from the fall.
Junior
Morgan Erdmann's 83 keyed Wooster's efforts. Erdmann played 11 holes at par or better en route to tying her third-lowest score of the year. Her Friday birdie came at the par-4, 349-yard 17th hole. She scored a birdie and five pars on Tannenhauf's back nine. Erdmann's 83 ranked 16th in the field.
Junior
Abby Haywood checked in with an 86, which was 18th in the field. Haywood birdied the par-4, 349-yard ninth hole and played holes five through nine at 1-over-par. Haywood went 3-over-par on par-4 holes for the day.
Junior
Paige Nicely tied for 23rd with an 88. Nicely fired off three straight pars on holes one through three, which included the par-5, 456-yard No. 1 and a second par-5 on No. 3. The junior dominated the par-5 holes, finishing just 1-over-par on them for the round.
Sophomore
Sarah Buchholtz placed 37th with a 99. Her round was headlined by a par on the par-5, 443-yard 16th hole. Senior
Alexis Neal was Wooster's No. 5 on the day, with her 108 ranking 39th.
Wooster was fifth of the six scoring teams in the field. Ashland University, which entered a B team only, had a 314, to edge out the top scoring team, Malone University, by three strokes. Ashland's
Dakota Riley was the medalist with a 2-over-par 74.
Next, Wooster takes on Ohio Wesleyan University in a dual match on Monday, April 6 at Fox Meadow Country Club. The round starts at noon.
