College of Wooster seniors
Colin Leslie and
Ryan Kramer collected all-region honors on Tuesday. Leslie was a D3baseball.com first-team and American Baseball Coaches Association second-team selection, while Kramer garnered second-team status from both D3baseball.com and the ABCA.
Leslie was one of Div. III's elite catchers, picking off 10 runners and throwing out 19 who tried to steal a base. Leslie threw out 53 percent of base stealers on the year and finished with 41 assists at catcher. While the NCAA does not officially track assists by position, research from head coach
Aaron Swick points to Leslie being believed to rank among the leaders in assists nationally for those who strictly catch. Offensively, Leslie was fifth on the team with a .317 average (45-for-142) with 38 runs, 34 RBI, 10 doubles, and 10 homers. Eight of his 10 homers came in an eight-game span, with three of those games against teams playing in the NCAA Div. III Championship. This is Leslie first all-region honor. He was a first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection earlier this spring.
D3baseball.com's all-region team has been awarded since 2012 and Kramer joins Wooster legends
Jamie Lackner and
Michael Wielansky as a three-time all-region selection by the popular website dedicated to coverage of Div. III baseball. Kramer earned National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Div. III Hitter of the Month for his play in February games and was named to the inaugural Small College Baseball Player of the Year watch list. The first-team All-NCAC selection hit .357 (41-for-115) with team-highs in RBI (40) and homers (14). He graduated eighth in program history with 181 RBI and 37 homers and became the 16th in program history to reach 200 career hits. Kramer sported a .675 slugging percentage this spring and reached base safely 47 percent of the time.
This year's D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings All-America teams are scheduled to be announced later this week. Leslie and Kramer are both on D3baseball.com's All-America ballot. The ABCA requires first-team all-region status to make its All-America ballot.
