College of Wooster baseball alumnus
Colin Leslie was voted third-team College Sports Communicators' Academic All-American®, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
As a senior, Leslie earned first-team D3baseball.com and second-team America Baseball Coaches Association All-Region VII honors and was on the ABCA's Region VII All-Defensive Team. Leslie debuted as a first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection this spring after picking off 10 runners and throwing out over 50 percent of would-be base stealers. Leslie ranked second on the team in runs and homers with 38 and 10, respectively, and he batted .317 (45-for-142) overall. Leslie tied for second on the team with 19 walks and was hit a team-high 14 times. The alumnus batted .353 (6-for-17) with five homers, nine RBI, and five runs scored over five games against teams which were among the final four alive at this year's NCAA Div. III Championship. Wooster was the lone team to play three of the four during the regular season as NCAA Div. III champion Dension University is in the NCAC, and the Scots played non-conference games against Adrian College and East Texas Baptist University.
Leslie examined high school sports offerings and their link to urbanicity, enrollment, and income for Independent Study. While pursuing a bachelor's degree in education and urban studies, Leslie was a student teacher in a third-grade classroom at Parkview Elementary School. Leslie was a student classroom assistant within the Wooster City School District, worked in the equipment room on campus, and was a preschool intern back home in Chicago prior to his sophomore year.
Leslie is The College of Wooster's 68th Academic All-American®, nine of which are from the Fighting Scots' storied baseball program. Of note, Leslie is Wooster's fifth baseball Academic All-American® this decade, joining
Harry Witwer-Dukes (2000),
Tyler Chumita (2021),
Michael Thomas (2022), and
Ryan Kramer (2024).
