College of Wooster baseball legends Rick Sforzo '87 and Jake Frank '05 were named to D3baseball.com's Golden Team, as announced recently by the organization. The popular website dedicated to coverage of Div. III baseball selected the "best of the best in the first 50 years of Div. III baseball" for this honor.

Sforzo, a first-team infielder, graduated as Wooster's first three-time All-American in baseball. He batted .468 as a junior with 16 homers and 77 RBI and followed that up with 16 more homers and 54 RBI as a senior, earning first-team All-America status both seasons. As a sophomore, Sforzo finished with a .446 average and 46 RBI, and earned the first of his three-straight North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year awards.

Sforzo still holds the storied program's record for total bases (461) and doubles (66) nearly four decades after graduating. His 198 RBI trail Frank's 224 for most in program history, while his hits (263) and average (.415) are both third among all Wooster players. He held nine career and seven single-season program records upon graduating in 1987.

Frank, a second-team infielder, hit .399 and drove in 50 runs as a first-year on Wooster's senior-dominated 2002 team, regarded by some as the best team in Wooster's tradition-rich history. He earned the first of four selections to the All-NCAC first-team, one of just two in program history. Despite less protection around him as a sophomore, Frank upped his numbers across the board to a .434 batting average, 14 doubles, 11 home runs, and 62 RBI, and was named NCAC Player of the Year and a first-team All-American at third base. Frank repeated as an All-American as a junior and senior, and he helped Wooster to a third-place finish at the Div. III Championship in 2005, at the time the program's second-highest national finish.

Frank graduated seventh in Div. III history in runs (218) and tied for 10th in RBI (224) and held top-20 all-time Div. III rankings in hits (13th, 265) and doubles (20th, 59).
