Bough Hired to Lead Field Hockey Program

Former Junior National Team member starts July 6

Leanne Bough, a former member of the United States U21, U19, and U17 junior national teams, has been hired as The College of Wooster's head field hockey coach. Bough begins her tenure at the College on July 6.

"I would like to thank the administration and athletic department for the opportunity to lead the Fighting Scots' field hockey program," said Bough. "I am excited to invest in the development of Wooster's student-athletes both on and off the field. My coaching style emphasizes strong relationships, clear communication, and a commitment to daily improvement. I look forward to building a program that our players, alumni, and campus community can be proud of."

"We are excited for Leanne to join us at Wooster to lead our field hockey program," said Lynn Holleran, director of athletics and physical education. "Leanne's accomplishments as a player at the highest levels of competition, passion for field hockey, work ethic, and coaching approach stood out during the search process. We are looking forward to the contributions Leanne will make on our student-athlete experience and our field hockey program."

Bough earned National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America honors to cap a decorated playing career at Ohio State University in 2023. That followed her third NFHCA All-West Region certificate and first-team All-Big Ten laurels. As a fifth-year, Bough was Ohio State's fourth-leading scorer and helped the Buckeyes to the most wins for the program since 2010. The five-year starter scored 22 goals and passed out seven assists in 88 career contests.

Bough regularly assisted Ohio State's coaching staff as a camp and clinic instructor for six years. She led skill development sessions for athletes of all playing abilities in addition to designing and implementing drills focused on fundamentals, position-specific skills, and game application.

On the international stage, Bough represented the United States as a member of the junior national team and played in matches against Uruguay's junior national team in South America. In high school, she was a sought-after prospect, leading Whitney Point High School to five straight state championships. The two-time high school All-American was the New York Player of the Year as a senior and earned a spot on the U17 and U19 junior national teams.

Bough graduated from Ohio State with a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's degree in business analytics.
