Senior Salute - Natalie Katzenmeyer

Katzenmeyer is member of field hockey team

Throughout the spring semester we are celebrating our senior student-athletes with a Senior Salute series. Today's featured senior is field hockey's Natalie Katzenmeyer. Katzenmeyer is a neuroscience major.

Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster?
A: I chose Wooster because the College's Independent Study offers an opportunity for students to pursue their interests in an independent project, mentored by expert faculty.

Q: What does being a Fighting Scot student-athlete mean to you?
A: It means competing in a diverse environment to play for past, present, and future teammates.

Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport?
A: I am the community engagement coordinator for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. My other campus involvement includes a sophomore research assistant, a teaching assistant, a Wooster service house program, and membership in the College's chapter of Nu Rho Psi, the neuroscience honor society.

Q: What other people or resources impacted your Wooster experience in a positive way and how did these people and resources set you up to be successful at Wooster?
A: The professors at Wooster are personable and want to help you succeed every step of the way.

Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project?
A: I am integrating large-scale transcriptomic datasets to understand molecular expression in the brain through an international collaboration with my research advisor at Karolinska Institute.

Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: I studied abroad in Stockholm, Sweden and had a research internship at Karolinska Institute. The experience challenged me to navigate a new culture while conducting neuroscience research, and I returned to Wooster with new global perspectives.

Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what advice would you give your first-year self?
A: Try everything because experience is the best way to learn about yourself.
