Luke Rizzo earned a spot on D3baseball.com's Team of the Week following his four-homer week. Additionally, he was the honorable mention hitter of the week on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Div. III weekly awards ballot.
Rizzo went 7-for-9 with eight runs, eight RBI, four homers, and six extra-base hits during three games last week. That equated to a .778/.833/2.444 slash line and a 3.277 OPS.
Rizzo homered in each game played last week and had three multi-hit efforts. His week started with a 2-for-3 outing with two runs, two RBI, and a homer in a 14-4 win over La Roche University. On Saturday, he was 3-for-3 with four runs scored, two homers, two RBI, and a double in a 13-3 win over Illinois Institute of Technology and followed that with a 2-for-3 showing with four RBI, two runs scored, his fourth homer of the week, and a triple in an 11-3 rout over Elmhurst University.
Wooster, 9-2 on the year and winners of six straight, hosts Allegheny College at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 12.
