Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster?
A: I chose Wooster because of the strong sense of community on campus during my visit. Everyone was very welcoming. The opportunity to complete an Independent Study project sets Wooster apart from other schools, and I really liked that component.

Q: What does being a Fighting Scot student-athlete mean to you?
A: Being a Fighting Scot student-athlete means representing a community that supports, challenges, and inspires me to be a better athlete, while contributing to something bigger than myself.

Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: Two of my favorite athletic memories are going to Florida for spring break with the team sophomore year and playing in the first round of the NCAA Div. III Championship during my junior year. Another great memory is going to Woosterfest during the fall of senior year and then going apple picking with the team.

Q: What is the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster?
A: The community of athletes on campus is very interconnected between sports. The friendships and overall dynamic of my team is different than any other team I have been a part of.

Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport?
A: Outside of my sport, I am involved with the Wooster Volunteer Network and volunteer with People to People Ministries through my service house program.

Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why?
A: Dr. Philip Mellizo made an impact on me when I took his microeconomics course during the spring of my junior year. It was very clear by the way he conducted class that his primary goal is to help students understand the content rather than just getting through the lecture or expecting us to already know what was being taught.

Q: What other people or resources impacted your Wooster experience in a positive way and how did these people and resources set you up to be successful at Wooster?
A: The writing center is a helpful resource for getting feedback on written assignments that you want a second set of eyes on. APEX is another great resource to help with things like career planning, building or editing your resume, and connecting students with individuals in fields they are interested in pursuing a future in. My coaches have also been very influential in constantly helping me improve as a player and as an individual.

Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project?
A: I am conducting comparative research between the Pigouvian tax model and the cap and trade model to determine and compare their impact on carbon emissions, respectively.

Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: I studied abroad in Switzerland in the fall of my junior year, and it was the best experience I could have had. I learned so much while travelling and exploring other countries as well as through the program I was studying abroad through. The professors and advisors I had abroad were amazing mentors in and out of the classroom. I made lifelong friends from my program.

Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what advice would you give your first-year self?
A: I would tell my first-year self to enjoy the moment without stressing about the future because everything works out. You should stay present in all of the experiences along the way.
