Anthony VanOyen guided The College of Wooster men's tennis to two conference wins this past weekend and earned himself North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors.
VanOyen, who earns the honor for the third time in his career, took two singles wins and a doubles win as the team defeated Wittenberg University, 7-0, and John Carroll University, 4-3.
Against Wittenberg, VanOyen teamed with
Enzo Lopes for a 6-2 win in the No. 1 doubles flight and later took care of
Christian Droz in the No. 1 singles flight, 6-1, 6-0.
Against John Carroll, while no Scot could capture a doubles win, VanOyen was one of four to win their singles flight to leave with the team victory. VanOyen was the clincher after a three-set battle in which he won 6-2, 5-7, 7-5.
Wooster is 9-2 overall and 2-1 in the NCAC, and hosts 14th-ranked Kenyon College on Thursday.
