Box Score The College of Wooster baseball team clubbed four home runs in Wednesday's 14-4 non-conference win over La Roche University at Art Murray Field.
Wooster (5-2) first-year shortstop
Noah Lindberg put a charge into two La Roche (0-6) pitches for his first two collegiate homers. The smooth-swinging right-hander launched a game-tying round tripper in the top of the first inning and broke the game wide open in the seventh with a three-run shot. Lindberg finished the day 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored.
Sophomore second baseman
Luke Rizzo crushed a two-run homer to right center that made it 6-3 in the third inning. Junior first baseman
Koa Siu joined the home run fest with a two-run shot to left center in the fifth inning. His homer scored Rizzo, who placed a one-out single into center field.
Earlier in the game, sophomore right-hander
Alex Eusebio turned to the pitcher's best friend to work out of a first-inning jam. La Roche loaded the bases before
Alex Perez grounded into a 6-4-3 double play. First-year
Matt Herlick tracked down a fly ball down the right field line to keep La Roche's damage at one.
Wooster answered right back with a three-run first. Lindberg's homer was followed by an RBI double to center from first-year designated hitter
Owen Sherrill and an RBI single off Siu's bat.
Senior
Tahj Orona (1-0) scored his first collegiate win. The left-hander allowed a run on four hits in 3 1/3 innings of work, during which he struck out two. Junior
Ben Tarpey fired two scoreless innings, which included a one-two-three seventh.
Wooster pounded out 18 hits and had seven of its starting nine log multi-hit games. Sherrill's three runs led the Scots.
Aaron Exler went 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored to pace La Roche.
Josh Cayer dropped to 0-2 after allowing six runs on eight hits in four innings.
Wooster is off to Lafayette, Ind. for four games this week, with two each against Elmhurst University (2-2) and Illinois Institute of Technology (2-1).
