Looking Back at 2025's NCAC Championship: Alumna
Ally Siewert capped her historic career with a third-place finish and led the Fighting Scots to a fourth-place 1,022 at the par-72, 5,870-yard Otter Creek Golf Course. With her strong finish, Siewert capped a standout career as the program's all-time leader in scoring average (82.3), medalist honors (5), top-five finishes (25), top-10 finishes (30), and rounds played (79). With her performance at the NCAC Championships, Siewert became the second Scot to post a sub-80 average for a season, with her 79.3 ranking just behind alumna
Melissa Burtscher's program-record 79.1. Siewert went on to become the third in program history to earn first-team All-NCAC honors.
Getting it Done: Wooster's women's golf team has been on a roll this spring, logging a trio of top-three finishes, led by runner-up honors at the 14-team Susquehanna University Spring Invitational on April 11. The Scots' season-best 346 was led by junior
Abby Haywood's (Dayton, Ohio/Centerville) fifth-place 83 and top-10 finishes by juniors
Morgan Erdmann (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) and
Paige Nicely (Coshocton, Ohio/River View). Most recently, Wooster took third at the program's annual Eva Shorb Weiskopf Invitational, where the team was led by Haywood's fifth-place 173.
Haywood the top Scot this year: Haywood leads Wooster's team with an 86.5 average over 14 rounds. The junior's top showing was a 79 at the University of Mount Union Fall Invitational, where the left-hander took sixth in the 62-competitor field. Haywood has three straight top-10 finishes coming into conference and four rounds in the 80s this spring.
The All-NCAC returnee: Erdmann is a big-time performer for Wooster at the NCAC Championship, evidenced by two top-15 finishes. The two-time third-team All-NCAC honoree turned in the best first-year season in program history, when she averaged 82.9 strokes over a program-record 22 rounds. At the time, Erdmann posted the seventh-best scoring average in program history and the top mark by a first-year.
Welcome Back: Nicely missed the fall due to studying abroad in New Zealand and led the Scots' lineup upon her return to competition at the Muskingum University Invitational at the end of March. Nicely tied for eighth-place at 178, marking the junior's second collegiate top-10 finish at a traditional tournament. She since added two more top-10 placements, with those coming at Susquehanna and during the Weiskopf.
Lowering the Low: Junior
Lizzy Hohman (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) and junior
Serena Grenga (Youngstown, Ohio/Ursuline) lowered their collegiate-bests at the Heidelberg University Fall Invitational in September. Hohman's 84 marked a collegiate-best by two. She got there in part with a late birdie dropping on the par-4, 322-yard sixth hole, which was her 16th of the shotgun-started round. Grenga shattered the collegiate-best with a 94 in round one. Grenga's final four holes were played at 1-over-par, thanks to a birdie on the par-5, 500-yard fourth hole.
Lowering the Low Part II: Sophomore
Sarah Buchholtz's (Rogers, Minn./Rockford) collegiate-best was been lowered several times this fall. The sophomore fired a 95 at the University of Mount Union Fall Invitational, which was a collegiate-best by five strokes. Buchholtz logged four pars and played 12 holes at bogey or better for the 95. She went one better at the John Carroll University Fall Invitational at Manakiki Golf Course, playing 12 holes at bogey or better including six in the final stretch.
The Senior: Alexis Neal (New Franklin, Ohio/Norton) is Wooster's lone senior this season. She has matched a collegiate-best three times, with 97s at Mount Union, Heidelberg, and a dual match with Ohio Wesleyan University.
