Four Scots Earn All-NCAC honors

Budd, Cuda, Holub, Kellogg Wooster's selections

Four College of Wooster men's lacrosse players were named All-North Coast Athletic Conference on Monday afternoon. Sophomore Domenic Cuda headlined the quartet as a second-team selection, while senior Luke Budd, sophomore Jack Holub, and senior Lane Kellogg all earned third-team status.

Cuda leads Div. III in caused turnovers per game at 5.17 and is projected to finish as the NCAA Div. III statistical champion once the national champion is crowned, as he is the only player within Div. III currently averaging over four per game. In fact, Cuda is in line to become the NCAA all divisions record holder for caused turnovers per game, but that will not become official until the national champion is crowned in Div. I, II, and III this spring. Cuda broke NCAC and Wooster single-season records with 93 caused turnovers this spring, tied for the second-most in Div. III history. The four-time United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Team of the Week selection matched the program's single-game record with 12 against Adrian College and logged four games with at least seven caused turnovers. Cuda is now a two-time All-NCAC selection.

Budd debuted on the All-NCAC team this spring. He played in all 18 games, scored 14 goals, scooped 11 groundballs, and had three assists. Budd scored twice in Wooster's 13-6 win over Kenyon College on April 25, which secured a share of the NCAC title for the Fighting Scots, a first for the program since 2004. He added two goals in conference play against DePauw University and Wabash College.

Holub broke the program's single-season record with 67 goals, 16 more than Steve Davidow netted in 1990 and Shaun Peirce in 2019. He just missed matching the program's 34-year-old single-game record with eight goals against Adrian in late February, then one upped that to tie Tom Bennett's 1992 record with nine goals against the University of Massachusetts Boston in mid-March. Holub pumped in five goals in Wooster's 11-10 win over John Carroll University to keep the program alive for a postseason berth and have a chance for that conference title.

Kellogg broke numerous decades-old school records this spring, finishing as the program's all-time leader in points and assists with 301 and 140, respectively. His 161 goals came one shy of tying the program's all-time record. Kellogg also broke single-season program records for points (98) and assists (59) this spring and opened the year with single-game program records in assists and points with 10 and 13, respectively, against Hiram College in the season opener. The three-time All-NCAC selection followed up his record-breaking single-game performance with nine points in wins over Adrian and Otterbein University. A fourth game with at least nine points occurred during spring break against UMass.-Boston.

Wooster went 12-6 this spring, which included a 6-2 ledger in conference play. The NCAC title was Wooster's second in program history. The six conference wins are a program record.
