Hardy Midfielder of the Year, Four Others Earn All-NCAC Status

Hardy among NCAC leaders in multiple statistical categories

Senior Lizzie Hardy's selection as North Coast Athletic Conference Midfielder of the Year headlined The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team's All-NCAC selections. Senior Brynne Snaguski joined Hardy on the All-NCAC first-team, second-team status went to sophomore Cassidy Driscoll and senior Sidney O'Rourke, and sophomore Mizan Jacobs was voted third-team all-league.

Through games played May 5, Hardy leads the NCAC in draw controls per game (6.94), is third in groundballs per game (3.39), and is fifth in goals per game (3.11). Her 125 draw controls are three shy of Hannah Shaw's single-season program record, while her 56 goals are four behind Ellie Hudson Heck's record 60 from a decade ago. Hardy has scooped 61 groundballs thus far this season, marking the fifth-most in program history. In conference play, Hardy had 44 draw controls, 22 groundballs, 21 goals, and seven caused turnovers across seven games. She enters the Div. III Championship 12th nationally in draw controls per game and 88th nationally in groundballs per game. Hardy is Wooster's second NCAC Midfielder of the Year, which has been awarded since 2017.

Snaguski, a repeat first-team All-NCAC honoree, collects all-conference laurels for the third time. Snaguski is tied for the NCAC lead with 57 goals this spring and has led Wooster to a No. 2 national ranking in scoring offense at 17.94 goals per contest. The senior recently became a top-10 scorer all-time at Wooster. She has five games with at least four goals this spring, led by a career-high seven against University of Massachusetts Boston in mid-March. In conference play, Snaguski scored 18 goals, scooped 10 groundballs, and passed out three assists.

Driscoll, a first-time All-NCAC selection, turned in a well-rounded season with 34 groundballs, 27 goals, 22 caused turnovers, and 13 assists. She ranks second on the team in caused turnovers, third in groundballs, third in assists, and fifth in goals. Driscoll logged a line of 20 groundballs, 14 goals, and 12 caused turnovers in conference play. Her signature game came against John Carroll University with six groundballs, five goals, and three caused turnovers.

O'Rourke, a three-time All-NCAC selection, has provided a veteran presence all season, logging 67 draw controls, 27 groundballs, and 21 caused turnovers to lead Wooster's primary defenders. O'Rourke has logged seven games with at least five draw controls this spring and seven games with multiple caused turnovers. She was key in Wooster winning the draw control stat against Denison University in the conference tournament championship game with six.

Jacobs, a first-time All-NCAC honoree, is a big reason why Wooster dominates the draws, as the Scots enter the Div. III Championship second nationally with 17.5 draw controls per game and in the top-15 nationally in percentage of draw controls won. Jacob's 75 draw controls this spring are second on the team and are the 10th-most in single-season history. Jacobs has scored 23 goals on the year and scooped nine groundballs.

Wooster (16-2) is playing in this year's NCAA Div. III Championship, playing in the first round against Farmingdale State College on Saturday, May 9 at noon. The game is at York College of Pennsylvania and the winner plays against the Spartans at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 10.
